Finding Joy
I've received emails from people I've never met, who don't care what tribe I am, how I voted or if I voted. They've offered me shelter (should I need it), hugs (because I need them), prayers (because we all need them), and drinks (because... oh, you get the picture). I felt better. A bit wobbly, but I was getting there.
Then today I went to the supermarket. And a man who is "from my tribe" elbowed me, shoved me, and I slipped and almost fell. Then this other dude that I'd never seen before - who is from "that other tribe" - grabbed my elbow. Steadied me. Picked up my groceries from the floor. I thanked him. He smiled and said:
"But I was right here. I couldn't let you fall."
Just that. And I was back in love.
I'm back. And I still believe.

That is the greatest T-shirt of them all.
I am so glad your hallelujah kitteh is back. Don't ever lose faith. We won't let you fall either.
Yay for the new found joy. Welcome back.
LOL!! Am with Baz - best line ever!! Should you feel the need to 'stalk' this guy, i shall totally understand....
Baz, the T-shirt, I need it.
KC, I need that guy from the 'other tribe', I'm beat and need to get up.
'My tribe', they still make me cry.
don't close the door to the guy of your tribe. he was in a hurry to make a few extra coins. he may have been aware that unless he moved like a collosus...more like our citi hoppa's....he did not have a chance...or perhaps, his goal was to make his girl happy. she was eagerly waiting in the house, car or wherever...she had given him orders for which to shop...for a long moment he had passed through his biasharas...and the orders had been forgotten....he had to make for it. sorry kc, he did not see you. he is like any other man. we never multitask. when we try, it is disaster...only this time it was you on the reciving end...
Ditto Baz, we were here. Always.
she's back!
interesting how the ones who help are the 'enemies', so to speak.
now off to catch up. LOL at baz.
wow, gotta be one of the nicest guys ever! If only more people were that nice. was he cute? not that it really matters, but it's always a bonus.
Hi, KC.
I will hesitate to get mushy about Kenya, because I just may be acting weird.
I want to know whether you don't consider the naive, fussy attention of people who, until some hours ago, couldn't locate Kenya on the map of East Africa a bit debasing.
Long sentence. Lemme clear up: I remember you saying this kind of attention was good and all. But now you may have seen that it is almost uniformly-naive whenever it happens. Superficial, and only good for asserting a superiority of the watchers. In short: do you want the Americans `analysing' Kenya's situation? If not, haven't you come round to seeing it my way, the way you once railed* against?
* Railed. Railed, not Railad. :o)
It's always the little things.
Hi, KC. I saw your comment on my blog, and I replied. But, as it is, I am a tad anxious to make things clear-and-straight, so I will post it here (after all, it is in context).
Um, sorry. I think my post came across as a tad insensitive to Kenyans. It probably is. But lemme answer you:
So... let me get this straight: Kenyans are thieves, George W. Bush is a thief. Do I have that right?
No. I said: The Kenyans are resourceful people. Immensely clever. Their thieves and cheats can steal anything.
So, you don't have it right. I didn't say Kenyans are thieves. Read it again. I said their thieves. Every society has them, but none are Kenya-smart. :o) I'm Uganda's best, and I suck.
Just to be clear, you don't have it right. I didn't say Kenyans are thieves. Only that they have thieves among them, who happen to be good at it.
So why shouldn't Bush comment on the Kenyan situation?
Maybe because he can't spell `Kenya'? My anger is about people becoming over-night pundits about Kenya. They didn't know Kenya existed, some hours ago, and now they want to write books about her. That was what I meant on your blog. I remember you saying something similar on Tumwijuke's blog saying roughly the same thing.
After all, us being thieves and all...
Again, I did not say you are thieves. Merely that you have them among you. What I said about the Kenyans is quite the opposite (please, read it again, with an aim to see what I wrote):
The Kenyans are resourceful people. Immensely clever.
It's sad that every attempt I make at saying something where I get to ... um ... evoke a response from you, it (your response) usually borders on the militant. It's largely my failure, but I really like your blog (and I liked it even back then, before the post of the kung-fu girl kicking some idiot about the jaw). It's a shame I always come across as attempting to stoke a fire or something. It isn't the case. I just asked for your opinion because I had seen half of it on Tum's blog, and it made lots of sense.
that was a lovely post, made my day whats left of it. Welcome back.
I don't know anything about kenya, but I know I'd buy you a drink if I could.
Welcome Home! You were never gone!
KC, si u come back woiye.
Personally, I'm tired of KC's false hopes. She puts up a post and says she's back. Then she disappears. Girl, I'm tired of typing in howdid... only to find the same old post. Oh, did you notice a guy picking you up on your comments? Johnny Virgil? Si you see what he has to offer no? Come back please.
You've been tagged! Details on my blog.

I don't think KC is in danger, she just commented on Insomniacs blog the other day. She's probably just being lazy.
